I do like the idea of Frank being Autistic, since we almost never see Autistic adults in media, let alone Autistic parents! Even if an Autistic parent tries to Google advice for how to be a good parent while also being Autistic, all that ever comes up is “how to parent an Autistic child.” As if we magically grow out of it as soon as we hit 18. It’s also worth noting that the stereotypes modern society has of Autism, right down to the diagnostic criteria, is based entirely on how Autistic children behave when they’re upset or when their needs aren’t being met. So yeah, Frank has a lot of moments when he doesn’t “look Autistic” because he is not *upset.* His needs are being met, particularly in regards to just being an adult who has control over their own life (something children don’t and which is particularly aggravating for Autistic children). He doesn’t match the stereotype at all because that stereotype is very, very specific to begin with.
